Energy Consumption Data

Have you ever wondered how much money Fayette County Public Schools spends each year on utilities?

From July 2009 to June 2010, FCPS students, faculty, and staff combined to use over 83 million kilowatt hours of electricity, a $6.5 million investment.  If through improved energy management and increased awareness we reduced consumption by only 10%, FCPS would save approximately $650,000 in one year on electricity alone. That's equivalent to 13,141,224 pounds of carbon dioxide saved or 1,140 cars taken off the road.

Fiscal Year 2011 had a budget of $5 million for electricity, $2.6 million for natural gas, and a combined $1.26 million for water, sewage, sanitation, and bottled gas. That adds up to nearly $9 million dollars annually in utility costs.
